As an artist who practices shibari, I often try to capture the quiet intensity of that intimate moment—when someone is bound and fully present.
I usually start with photos of my tied models, then take my time to translate the pose into a drawing, searching for the angles and expressions that feel the most honest or evocative. In this piece, I wanted to play with contrast again—between the vulnerability of the body and the structure of the ropes, between black and white tones and touches of deep blue.
There’s something about the balance of tension and surrender that speaks to me, and I try to let that guide the composition. It’s not about control or dominance for me, but about trust, form, and the quiet beauty that can emerge from stillness. If this drawing resonates with someone else, then the work has done its part.
